Can the Web-Activator be used without a payment gateway?
Yes. While a payment gateway is not necessary, we still recommend an intermediate layer of any kind be used for security reasons. This intermediate layer can be either directly presented to the user through a browser (requiring thier input) or hidden from the user simply using TCP/IP HTTP requests directly to and from your application. Since any intermediate layer can be used, this can be an ASP/ASPX/JSP page such as the online verification system, e-mail address gathering system, or any other intermediary. The ASP/ASPX/JSP page links in the background to the Web-Activator, and the remits the generated code directly through its HTML presented to the user. While we do recommend an intermediate layer for security reasons, it is entirely possible for you to let the customer link directly to the Web-Activator, as long as you can also construct the URL in the correct format with the correct parameters.
