Yes and no. The VX-VEB160R2 utilizes a single pair of copper to extend Ethernet through CAT3/ RJ-11. If you are familiar with crimping modular connectors, you can break out a pair of copper from the CAT5e cable and re-crimp the ends to RJ-11 on both ends. You may also purchase an RJ-45 to RJ-11 coupler at your local electronics store as well. The VX-VEB160R2’s are not linking after we have deployed/installed the units. I have already power cycled both units and re-crimped my cables. There are many variables that can affect the link between the Ethernet Extenders. Some common problems can be the wiring between the units such as a cut or open short on the line, coiled line, equipment failure, noise on the line or incorrect/loose wiring on the RJ-11 head. To verify cable or equipment failure, simply connect both units side by side on a table and verify if they link with the correct ports using the provided RJ-11 cable.
