Can the volunteering take place overseas?
Yes, provided there is a volunteering element and its not just a holiday. The nominee must also currently volunteer in Surrey. This is one of the eligibility criteria. For example: We recognise that many voluntary organisations take young people abroad and they undertake some volunteering work while they are away. We want to recognise these young people because • It is setting a good example to others • They are getting into the volunteering habit • They bring back a better understanding of other cultures • This experience is only part of their wider volunteering commitment • A leader of such a group would also be eligible as long as they aren’t a paid member of staff and the trip was undertaken as a volunteer.
