Can the UV system be used on a continuous basis in pond installations?
A. Yes, the Series 4 UV system has been designed for continuous operation, 24/7, as most ponds operate on a continuous basis. However, if the installation anticipates occasional or frequent interruption of the operation of the circulation pump, the Series 4 UV system should have the power energizing the UV unit electrically interlocked to the power supplying the pump. This way, when the pump goes OFF, the UV system goes OFF as well. This will extend lamp life by allowing the lamp to be cooled by the water flow through the UV reactor, rather than causing a lit lamp to overheat while in still water inside the reactor. The flow of water through the reactor cools the lamp and improves performance and useful life.
