Can the Toxic Character Trait of Entitlement Lead to Spousal Sexual Abuse?
I was just having a conversation with a friend about personality disorders and the attribute of entitlement came up. Entitlement seems to be one of the key traits of some of the most toxic and dysfunctional personality disorders, especially sociopathy and psychopathy, which the DSM IV unfortunately groups together as Antisocial Personality Disorder. Anywho,,, There are lots of ways that toxic people express their sense of entitlement. For example, they might feel they’re unjustifiably and automatically due for job promotions, raises, recognition, or they may demonstrate a freedom to break any and all rules at will for their own personal gain. But then it hit me,,, the men who felt (entitled) to have sex with their wives simply because they’re married, which I think largely contributed to the marital-rape court cases.
