Can the ThunderBolt work near or in a car?
Certain types of internal combustion engines produce electromagnetic noise across the operating frequency of the ThunderBolt. If the unit detects a noise level high enough to interefere with normal storm detection, it will display a HIGH LOCAL NOISE warning and instruct the user to move the ThunderBolt to a different location. This type of background noise is normally only produced by an engine when running. Operating the ThunderBolt near a vehicle with the engine off should never be a problem.
