Can the ThermoJet printer produce patterns for investment casting?
The ThermoJet printer was developed and intended for use as a fast, convenient method of producing concept and communication models. However, some foundries are successfully using the ThermoJet printer as a method of creating near net shape patterns for investment casting. ThermoJet printer patterns can be processed intuitively, since the ThermoJet material behaves very similarly to foundry gating wax and standard foundry processes apply. However, when accuracy is critical, the use of 3D Systems’ SLA systems with the QuickCast 2.0 build style is recommended.
