Can the TAC fund maintenance/repair costs for the home modifications completed?
The TAC can pay for the maintenance/repair costs of the home modifications completed in relation to the transport accident injuries only, e.g. the TAC can pay for maintenance/replacement of a ramp or hand rail. In such cases, faulty workmanship of any maintenance/repairs completed will remain the responsibility of the tradesperson or company and not the TAC. The liability of the builder must be stipulated within the builder’s contract and is to be signed by the builder and the client. The TAC can fund maintenance and repairs of home modifications required as a result of the transport accident-related issues, e.g. the TAC can fund painting wall damage caused by wheelchair use. The TAC will not fund general repairs or enhancements that the client would incur regardless of the transport accident, e.g. replacement of carpet, bathroom tiles or re-painting the house.
