Can the student bring back the correct letter in the sequence?
These observations can be performed more than once in the class period, giving the teacher a good perspective on student achievement. Variations: -As the year progresses and vocabulary increases, this game is played much like “scrabble”. Letters are scattered on the floor and can have point values (b scores 3, z scores 10, o scores 1, etc.). The relay team is given a certain amount of time to run out and back with letters to create their “best” word. -Different movement patterns may be used as the year progresses (i.e.: skipping, galloping, animal walks, etc.) -Students come together in a small group around me and I ask them what was happening to their bodies as they were playing. During the feedback discussion letter names and sounds are reviewed. This also gives the students time to rest and calm down before returning to their classroom.
