Can the SIU investigate all complaints against police?

0

The SIU’s jurisdiction is limited to the criminal investigation of police activities that result in serious injury, which would include allegations of sexual assault, or death. The Unit investigates occurrences across the province involving municipal, regional and provincial police officers. The onus is on the involved police service to notify the SIU of an incident that may reasonably be considered to fall within the investigative jurisdiction of the SIU.
