Can the September 1st entrance date be waived?
No. This date is mandated by the State of Maryland and we are required to adhere to this deadline by the Maryland State Department of Education. Studies have found that it is beneficial to adhere to the entrance age requirement — reasons include academic performance expectations for kindergarten, and most importantly, ease in social interactions in both early childhood and adolescence. Studies have also shown that the age disparity has been found to be even greater in older children and adolescents with younger-aged children feeling the greater burden to “keep up” both academically and socially.
