Yes, as provided in the revised Senior Project guidelines, schools can choose to embed the Senior Project within an existing course, or implement the Senior Project as an independent activity. We have a Hawaiian Immersion Program affiliated with our school that requires that all curriculum be taught and written in the Hawaiian language. They are asking that the Senior Project be written and presented in the Hawaiian language. How would this work for the BOE Recognition Diploma in regards to the Senior Project? The Senior Project can be written and presented in the Hawaiian language, as long as the panel members are skilled not only in assessing the quality of the student work, but also skilled in the Hawaiian language. Another option is to have the Immersion students complete the Senior Project in both English and Hawaiian.
