The removable hard drive can be set to record to or as a backup drive. There are three ways available to duplicate the recorded video from HD 1 (Fixed HD) to HD 2 (Mobile Rack HD). First, the FULL backup option, duplicates all the recorded video from HD1 to HD2 (given HD2 is equal to or larger than HD1). Second, the ALARM backup option, duplicates only the alarm-event recorded video from HD 1 to HD2. Third, the SELECT backup option, manually duplicates selected video clips from HD1 to HD2. All backups must be done manually. The unit cannot be programmed to perform automatic backups. The amount of time required to back up a file from HDD1 to HDD2 is about 40% of real time.
