Can the printer print on dark colored garments?
Sawgrass is in the latter stages of development on a proprietary white ink solution for printing on dark garments. The DirectAdvantage printer is fully ready to print white ink once this solution is introduced. All white ink systems currently on the market require special art preparation, pre-treatment of the garment with a pre-treatment chemical plus multiple passes of a white under-base. In most cases, numerous test prints must be conducted to obtain a passable result. Manufacturers of white ink systems are quoting a printing rate of less than 8 shirts an hours. Actual production rates are often much lower. In addition, existing white ink systems have a tendency to have a plastic like feel and have inconsistent wash durability.
