Keys in the ignition, you can charge someone with being drunk in charge of a vehicle. The key to that law is key in the ignition. You are therefore in charge of the vehicle. 99.9% percent of coppers would ignore this, except the copper in question is known by his colleagues as PC Shiny Buttons, because he follows the rule book to the absolute letter. You haven’t heard the half of it though. Last year he gave a guy a fifty quid fixed penalty for littering; because he dropped a tenner and ‘didn’t pick it up quickly enough.’ This particular plod is the type of plod who gets all of them a bad name. Do not be stupid enough to mark all coppers by this arsehole’s activities.
