Can I play original Gameboy and Gameboy Color games on a nintendo ds? Unfortunately, no. The DS and DS Lite only play DS games and Game Boy Advance games. The best system to get to play Game Boy games is the Game Boy Advance SP. It plays Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance games. It’s compact, very comfortable, and has a great screen. There are 2 versions of it, the original version was front-lit (not as nice) and the second version was back-lit with a brighter screen. Definitely try to get the second one, model #AGS-101.
