Can the Mountain Buggy® be used for a newborn baby?

Yes all models have a recline seat that drops down to between 160-162 degrees, which is suitable for newborn babies, and well within the incline angle required by Safety Standards. The reason why we do not allow the seat to reline to a full horizontal position is to ensure the baby does not wriggle up the seat back and alter the centre of gravity. A baby will not wriggle up a slight gradient, and a parent is less likely to place the baby in the wrong position if there is a slight incline on the seat back. Our Stroller Instruction Booklet (download here) clearly shows the correct child placement position and we advise the use of the harness at all times. Please note: A stroller is a means of transport and we do not recommend it be used for long periods of time in place of a cot, or left unattended at any time.
