Can the mother of the bride wear the same color as the bridesmaids?
On One Hand: Don’t Be TackySome wedding advisers consider it tacky for the mother of the bride to wear the exact same color as the bridesmaids, or of the bride for that matter, and you should usually try to steer away from shades of white and ivory. Trying to match the exact color of the bridesmaids’ dresses could be disastrous in terms of color coordination unless you get exactly the same dress, which you certainly shouldn’t consider. On the Other: Look to the BridesmaidsWearing a hue just a bit lighter or darker than the bridesmaids’ dresses is certainly appropriate. Some mothers of the bride may choose a color completely outside the overall wedding color scheme and still be within the boundaries of not looking out of place, but staying in the same general color palette is always a safe bet.Bottom LineWearing the same color as the bridesmaids is a faux pas. Neutral colors or a lighter shade of the bridesmaids’ dresses is a great idea, though.
