UD’s apparently cause iron deficiency

which in turn can cause hair loss. I’m actually just learning about this, I have the mirena iud and have been bruising, tired, etc. I then learned that IUD’s (with the progesterone in the mirena) can up the chance of iron loss.

Hair los s usually caused by genetics, stress and lack of nutrition. You should try taking Vitamins like Nioxin and Reloxe. I heard someone used it and had great results from both.

Very unlikely indeed. Mirena releases such a small amount of progesterone that it very rarely causes side-effects. The hormone is released directly into the lining of the womb, so does not enter the blood, and doesn’t cause side-effects like hair thinning. I’d stick with Mirena, if I were you. It’s the contraceptive that’s least likely to produce side-effects, and is the most effective one, too.
