UD’s apparently cause iron deficiency

which in turn can cause hair loss.  I’m actually just learning about this, I have the mirena iud and have been bruising, tired, etc.  I then learned that IUD’s (with the progesterone in the mirena) can up the chance of iron loss.

Hair loss usually caused by genetics, stress and lack of nutrition. You should try taking Vitamins like Nioxin and Reloxe. I heard someone used it and had great results from both.

Very unlikely indeed. Mirena releases such a small amount of progesterone that it very rarely causes side-effects. The hormone is released directly into the lining of the womb, so does not enter the blood, and doesn’t cause side-effects like hair thinning. I’d stick with Mirena, if I were you. It’s the contraceptive that’s least likely to produce side-effects, and is the most effective one, too.
