Can the Mighty One be made to throw faster than 70 MPH?
First, understand that we have been building and testing pitching machines for years, and our speed claims have been tested and retested. OK here’s the answer: Yes, the Mighty One can be made to throw faster than 70 MPH, but in our opinion, not safely. Here’s why: At a certain RPM, the tire on a pitching machine will separate from the rim due to centrifugal force. This will cause the tire to immediately stretch out and take on a much higher profile. If this happens, the machine will become unbalanced and therefore unstable. This also creates a situation where the rapidly spinning tire can come into contact with the ball bumper assembly, causing a potentially catastrophic and dangerous failure. Our extensive testing has shown that 70 MPH is safely within the RPM range where this will not happen.
