Can the MBS items that are available for practice nurses be used in RACFs?
All of the current practice nurse items can be provided to residents of RACFs, however there is no separate Medicare rebate provided for RACF visits. So, for example, if a practice nurse was to provide ongoing monitoring and management services to a patient with a chronic disease being managed by their GP under a care plan (Medicare Benefits Schedule item 10997), the Medicare rebate would be $10.60.
