Can the Joint Trust change its objectives without reference to the Governing Bodies?

Possibly –to the extent permitted by the Trust’s Memorandum and Articles of Association. However, the objectives must by law always be for the advancement of the education of the pupils at our schools and any amendment to the objects of the Trust will require the consent of the Charity Commission. This is unlikely to be forthcoming unless the original purpose for which the Trust was established can no longer be met.
