Can the iPad read iBooks aloud?
I’m very interested to find out the answer to this question. When I read things to commit them to memory, it helps me to hear the words as I’m reading them. When I’m surfing the Internet or reading a magazine, reading out loud isn’t as important to me as when I’m reading a technical book or other text that I want to learn. As a result, a perfect eBook reader in my mind would be one that allows me to click a “read out loud” button and have it speak the words. The problem as I understand it is two-fold. First and foremost, book publishers and authors want to receive as much money as possible. When an eBook can be read out loud, this could negate audio book sales and reduce the overall revenue that a book receives. Second, standard copyright laws in the U.S. treat text and audio differently.
