Can the Illinois state legislature impeach Governor Rod Whats-his-name?
They’re no doubt negotiating terms. Just because Blagojevich has been caught, doesn’t mean he doesn’t still have power behind the scenes. The shadow government will have to reorganize in response to recent events. I have it from reliable oral tradition in my family, that the Chicago Democratic Party paid people to vote during the Roaring Twenties and the Depression. I myself remember Mayor Daly of the 1960s, the Last of the Big City Bosses, father of the current Mayor. Unfortunately, corruption isn’t new in Illinois. You are right though: it’s time to throw the bum out.
