Can the homeowner change or replenish the charcoal in the filter?
Yes the homeowner can. The 1.5″ and 2″ OdorHog s are designed as a disposable unit. You may purchase bags of replacement charcoal for the 3″ and 4″ units. We do not recommend that you come in contact with the saturated charcoal. • I am a restaurant owner? I have a few 1.5" and 2" vent pipes. What do you suggest for me? Our experience with commercial users or restaurants is that it is more economical to order the 3" OdorHog with a 3" reducer to the 1.5" or 2" . The reason for this is that the carbons in the filters have been known to get saturated with hydrogen sulfide quicker than one year. You would have to replace the whole 1.5" or 2" OdorHog once the carbons become saturated. By ordering the 3" OdorHog that is reduced, all you will have to replace is the carbon bag.
