Can my elementary home-schooled student participate in the science fair? No. The CPS Student Science Fair is exclusively for students enrolled in the Chicago Public Schools. For science fair participation, home-schooled students may register with, and participate in, the Illinois Junior Academy of Science Region 2 Science Fair. Can my home-schooled high school student participate in extracurricular activities involving interscholastic high school athletics? All requests to participate in extracurricular interscholastic activities must be submitted in writing to the Chief Education Officer. Home-school students must meet the requirements determined pursuant to the By-laws of the Illinois High School Athletic Association and the Chicago Public High Schools Athletic Association.
