There has been no established method to stratify diabetic patients undergoing total joint arthroplasty according to the risk of postoperative complications. Hemoglobin A1C (HgA1C) levels have been well established to correlate with risk of diabetic complications. This study evaluates the utility of the HgA1C test in predicting postoperative complications in patients undergoing total hip (THA) or total knee arthroplasty (TKA).
