Can the funds be used across state lines? Can tribes use funds across states lines on non-reservations lands?
Funds cannot be used across state lines. CDC will only fund applications serving the population within the same state. However, there are no restrictions on collaborating with multiple partners across county, state, and tribal boundaries. Applicants are encouraged to collaborate and coordinate with other potential applicants within the areas to be served in order to submit the strongest and most collaborative application. Additionally, federally recognized tribes and tribal organizations, which include Intertribal Councils and American Indian Health Boards which meet the definition set forth in 25 U.S.C. Section 1603(e) and are under a resolution that such organizations, councils, and boards represent the underlying tribes, are exempt from this requirement. It is important for the proposal to demonstrate that the applicant along with the leadership team have the authority to implement the program in the area to be served.
