Yes. Straight vegetable oil has a higher viscosity than petroleum diesel and biodiesel and must be heated at the tank and throughout the fuel line to decrease viscosity and allow normal fuel flow rates. It is advisable to install a booster pump when using SVO because there may be solid contaminants in the oil if the oil is not properly pre-filtered before being pumped into the fuel tank.
