Can the federal budget deficit be addressed while creating economic stimulus to help individuals and small businesses?
JG: Rep. Tom price (R-GA) has proposed a plan. In part, he suggests we push the “reset” button on discretionary spending, bringing us back to the 2008 levels. This will stop “temporary” stimulus funding from continuing year after year. In addition, the president and congress should take all the bailout money that has been repaid – and use it to pay down the national debt. It all comes down to tax relief for families and small businesses – and in turn this will foster economic growth in local communities. Remember, after the second phase of the bush tax cuts in 2003 – total federal tax revenue increased by 44% ($743 billion) from 2003 to 2007. VT: New York is a major target for terrorism.
