Can the ECOM/ECOM100s red error light be monitored from ladder logic (e.g. SP bits) and will the ECOM/ECOM100 recover automatically?
If the error (ERR) light comes on (or is flashing), this means a fatal error occurred and for this reason it cannot be monitored from ladder logic (i.e. the firmware has stopped running; the ECOM/ECOM100 is dead; it is not doing anything). Before it died the SP bit may or may not have been set or cleared; it is completely unpredictable. After the error light comes on, you will have to power cycle the ECOM/ECOM100 to get it up and running again; the error cannot be reset automatically when the cause is removed.
