The Division of Water can provide a list of all water well contractors with licensed drillers in your region. Always hire a licensed driller. Licensed drillers have passed a competency exam administered by the Division and are responsible for meeting Indiana well construction standards. Future well owners should compare prices and services before selecting a contractor. Make sure you have a signed contract covering matters such as charge per foot, materials, dry holes, and damage caused by drilling operations. Home improvement contracts are required by IC 24-5-11 for residential work exceeding $150. Indiana water well drillers are required to submit a well record to the Division of Water within 30 days after completing a well.
