Can the CSA demand payment for a child of questionable paternity?
What a ridiculous situation. The CSA are utterly useless, surely the onus should be upon the woman to prove paternity before the claim can be made otherwise what’s to stop her filing claims against anyone she chooses at random. I think your partner is being more than reasonable under the circumstances, maybe if he tried flatly denying that the child is his then it would force the mother’s hand. It seems legal advice would be a good idea, but getting lawyered up is an expensive game. I’d suggest you make an appointment at the Citizen’s Advice Bureau to save on costs until you are sure of your rights.
