Can the council make my family homeless?

The Judge may suspend the Possession Order for a period of time, but he will grant it to the Council make no mistake about that. If you so much as miss a week’s rent it will be brought into force immediately and you will find the Bailiffs on your doorstep. By the way Possession Orders are now fast tracked so it won’t take a long time.

No, it’s you that will make yourself homeless if you don’t abide by the local housing regulations.

I don’t think that they would have a right to if you are paying it off. It’s a bit heartless just to make people homeless, and we live in quite a fair country. I stayed in a B&B when I first moved out of my Mother’s and I think that’s where they put families who end up homeless. It’s not too bad, it’s clean and I had all my own facilities, I had my own door key and they supplied milk, eggs, bread, cereal and bedding. I even had my boyfriend stay secretly for months without anyone suspecting anything. They can’t just leave you on the streets. Have you tried for housing benefit? It’s there to help people on low pay. Good luck.
