Can the commencement of the payment of loans be deferred?
– Under special circumstances, an immigration officer may grant a deferral to the start of payments, a variation of the payments or an extension to the repayment period. – For Convention refugees or members of a designated class (persons in refugee-like situations) who have been selected in Canada or abroad, the deferral of payment may be up to 24 months. – For any other person, the deferral of payment may be up to 6 months.
