Can the colour of a Yellow Rat Snakes eyes change as it gets older?
In some ratsnakes the eye color will change with age especially if the Yellow Ratsnake is in its southern most form, the Everglades Ratsnake. Ratsnakes are one of the few snakes that actually give an overall change in pattern and colors as they grow larger and become older. Everglades Ratsnakes (South Florida Yellow Ratsnakes) become a brighter orange with age and often have less of a striped pattern down the back. They also have a trademark solid brilliant red tongue.
