Can the Big Five inventory select efficientleader behaviours?

Jethwa University of Nottingham The following study will explore the Big Five Personality dimensions, in order to investigate whether specific personality types can predict efficient leader behaviours. The aim of the research is to relate various personality dimensions from the Big Five Personality Inventory (John, Donahue & Kentle, 1991) to the self reported leader behaviours measured by the Transformational Leadership Inventory (Podsakoff, Mackenzie & Bommer, 1996) After decades of research the Big Five has received considerable consensus on a general taxonomy of personality traits, ‘The Big Five’ personality dimensions. These dimensions are not represented in a specific theoretical perspective but are in actual fact derived from an evaluation, of the natural language individuals use to describe themselves and others.
