Can the BCR judge the quality of a bar code symbol?
Yes. The BCR is designed to meet ISO 15415 standards to quantify various aspects of the bar code symbol itself and assign letter grades. A number of parameters are graded, A through F, based on specific qualities. For instance, the ‘Symbol Contrast’ grade rates how well the black and white portions of the bar code differ from one another in gray scale value. Inspections can be passed or failed based on the results of these quality grades. The grades themselves can also be exported via a Communication tool.
