Can the ASB Treasurer, a student, sign vendor checks?
Questions: Our ASB vendor checks require two signatures. The two people — the ASB Director and the ASB Treasurer are the signers. There are also other signatories at this site for back-up (Vice Principal and Principal). The ASB Treasurer is an annual elected position which is a senior student who works closely with the ASB Director on reviewing invoices, POs, etc. Is it appropriate or not appropriate for the ASB Treasurer to be a signatory? Responses: ASB bank accounts must be held in the name of the ASB organization and not in the name of any individual. These bank accounts are for the exclusive use of the ASB organization and the principal should establish procedures to ensure that only ASB funds are deposited into these accounts. Clubs should not be permitted to open their own bank accounts; rather, they are all part of the original ASB bank account first set up when the “general student council” account was opened. There must be at least two signatories on each account, and these
