Can the Animation Industry Help in Bridging the Digital Divide?
As we all know, the most of the employees in IT/ITES sectors comprises of urban elites with good skills in English language. Unfortunately, this has put students from Rural India at a disadvantageous position since they don’t have access to resources or the background that urban students have to get into cushy jobs in lucrative sectors. This has led to what we call “Digital Divide” where the gap is widening between urban & rural masses in terms of living standards, growth, and affordability. The question on the table is how we can bridge this gap so that we can build a more inclusive society. Unlike skills required in other IT/ITES sectors, the Animation industry depends more on individual creativity and inborn artistic ability to become a good animator. You don’t have to be fluent in English to communicate your artistic ideas. Moreover, the Animation Industry in India is poised for huge growth generating thousands of jobs in the coming years.
