Yes if the engine does not get enough air it will not run. If you mean the air flow sensor, if that is not working it will make the engine stop. If you mean the idle air flow control valve then yes it will cause the car to cut out typically at idle speeds and maybe not all the time. Without knowing what is the problem with the air flow then impossible to suggest remedy. Air flow = air passing round or through something.
