Can the 2003 Honda Accord LX Sedan be fitted with side airbags for front and rear passengers?
the short answer is “no”. There are no rear side airbags available on any car. The side airbags are housed in the backrest of the front seats on the outboard side so that they fill the gap between the driver or passenger and the inside of the door in a collision event. The airbags are in the seat itself and the upholstery on the seat back has a special stitching so that it breaks away to allow the airbag to deploy. So if you were to try to convert the front seats you would need two new seats, with airbags. but that’s not all. The passenger seat has a special sensor called an Occupant Presence Detection Sensor that determines the size and the weight of the passenger. That would need to be on the passenger seat you were retrofitting. And, you would need an entire new wiring harness and electronic control unit that was designed to work with the side and front airbags. Then you need to add all the labor to take the old out and put the new in. I’m sure such a combination of seats, airbags,
