Can Taxi Meters be manipulated, how can the consumers made aware of any such possibility ?
No manipulation can be done in the auto / taxi meters, without opening / breakage of seal. The seal / stamp of this Department is affixed on the meter of the auto / taxi and is visible at the back of the meter. Consumer can check the accuracy of the meter by verifying that the meter downing is Rs. 8/- in case of autorickshaws and Rs. 13/- in Taxis. Further, if the meter shows an increment of Rs. 0.35 per 100 meter in auto rickshaws and Rs. 0.70 per 100 meters in Taxis than the meter can be said to be not manipulated.
