Can synchronous Just-in-Time Learning occur when the instructor and student are geographically separated?
Yes, JIT learning can be offered via the web with live instructors and via voice command through wearable devices. The Office of the Future Project at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill is also currently working on a teleconferencing system that would holographically display the instructor and student within the same space. Once these technologies are coupled with haptic (touch) sensor technology, the teletraining could truly be an affective tool for hands on learning. See Just-in-Time Learning.
