Can switching birth control medications interfere with the menstrual cycle?

Well I am a birth control queen, I have been on about 12 different kinds. Every pill is different and they all have different amounts of estrogen and hormones in them, so each one will effect you differently. My doctor always told me that when you start taking different pills that your period may be heavier or lighter, you may have one and you may not, but since you have been under stress and been very sick, it may be late because of stress. Just be careful when you are sick, if you have diarreah or are throwing up, you are losing the pill, it is coming up. So be careful when you have sex, wear a condom or have him pull out for a few days at least after you get over being sick.
