Can swelling in a sprained ankle last over 11 days?

Without a doubt. I sprained my ankle badly about two years ago. The deep bruising went up to back of my knee and around the foot. It was swollen for at least a month – swelling would subside when I elevated my leg and applied cold pressure but within minutes of walking it would swell right up again. The hospital was useless – their idea of physio was to stand up and down on tiptoe for a few minutes each day. I couldn’t run properly for about a year but it’s fine now. I was 44 at the time, slim and reasonably fit. Your recovery should be quicker if you’re younger but 11 days ain’t very long – you’ll be fine!
