Can survivors of child abuse sue the authorities for not protecting them?
You may be able to sue your parents, although it is doubtful. You’re not going to be able to sue the authorities. What have you lost financially as a result of them doing nothing? The police are not responsible for your parents’ actions. There are certain guidelines they must follow. If your abuse doesn’t meet those guidelines there is nothing they can do about it. It’s a major problem in the system, but that’s just how it is and hopefully one day it can be fixed. I’d also like to point out that you could have been arrested for hitting your father.
