Can Sun Fire X2100 M2 Server and Sun Fire X2200 M2 Server memory DIMMs be interchanged?
No. The Sun Fire X2100 M2 uses unbuffered DIMMS and supports up to four 512MB, 1GB and 2GB DDR2-667 DIMMs. These should be installed in pairs for 128-bit memory access but the system will run with only 1 DIMM installed. The Sun Fire X2200 M2 uses registered DIMMs and supports up to eight 512MB, 1GB, 2 GB, and 4 GB DDR2-667 DIMMs per processor. The 2 GB and 4GB DIMMs are dual ranked. If more than 4 dual ranked DIMMs are populated per CPU, DDR2 clocking drops from 667 MHz to 533MHz.
