Can students who fail to meet the standards on state tests retake the tests?
Yes. Beginning in 1998-99, the Department will provide districts with follow-up tests to give to students who do not meet the standards at grades 3, 5 or 8. Districts may give the follow-up tests to students when they think the students are ready. Beginning in 1998-99, there will be at least three opportunities a year for students to take the grade 10 state tests. Each re-examination will contain a different set of items but will assess the same knowledge and skills.
