Can students take the software home for personal use? Can faculty and staff?
Each student may take home ONE (1) copy of all licensed software for use on a personally-owned computer, whether home is on or off campus. Each student who has more than one computer — say, a desktop computer in their home and a laptop they carry around campus with them — may install the software on only one machine1. Commercial use of University property, including products licensed under the Microsoft Campus Agreement is strictly prohibited by State of Texas law and by University policy. Faculty, Staff and Faculty Emeriti may use the products on a personally-owned computer at home for their university “work at home” needs as long as they have a corresponding copy of the software on their university-provided computer at work. Tasks you are allowed to perform on your University-owned work computer (this includes personal e-mail, web surfing, document creation, etc., excluding commercial use) may also be done on your personally-owned computer under “work-at-home” rights covered under
Students receive media for the products they purchase for use on one personally-owned computer on the Personal Use Program. Faculty and staff can use the Campus Agreement software at home on one personally-owned computer as long as they are currently employed by the university, the agreement is in force, and they are the primary user of a campus computer which has the Campus Agreement software installed. However, the use of the software on a home computer must be only for OSU business purposes. Faculty and staff use software purchased on the Personal Use Program on one personally-owned computer for their personal use.
